Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors.
As many of us enjoy time on the water this summer, it's a fitting reminder that calm seas don't build confident sailors—and calm markets don't build confident investors.
The second quarter illustrated this well. After the S&P 500 finished the first quarter down more than 4%, concerns about tariffs, economic uncertainty, and geopolitical tensions created plenty of reasons to question the markets' direction. Yet by the end of the second quarter, the index had recovered those losses and moved into positive territory for the year.
Like sailing, investing isn't about waiting for perfect conditions. A successful voyage begins with a well-built vessel, a trusted course, and the confidence to navigate through choppy waters. Investing is no different. We focus on maintaining diversified portfolios, managing risk thoughtfully, and keeping your investment strategy aligned with your long-term plan rather than short-term headlines.
